Raul Fernandez, PE, PhD

I’m Raul Fernandez, mechanical engineer and owner of Escapa Expert.

I am an experienced patent expert witness, and a consultant on GD&T and engineering drawing standards.

Background

I am a licensed mechanical engineer with 40 continuous years of education, industrial practice, applied research, and academic instruction in the field.

I served as a Professor in Practice in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington for 14 years, teaching courses in engineering design and dimensional metrology.

I have completed significant industrial assignments in product instrumentation and test, robotics and automated manufacturing, machine control, software development, fluid power modeling, dimensional metrology, blueprint analysis, and surgical device development (the latter including patents with royalty-bearing licensing.)

I bring, in addition, honed written and front-of-the-room presentation skills to my expert witness practice.

Expert Experience

My focus and deposition experience is in patent litigation, comprising most of my case history. I have worked on liability (industrial fatality) as well, and can opine on selected product design and manufacturing subject matter.

I have authored technical reports and opinions on infringement, obviousness, claim construction, and Inter Partes Review. I am extensively trained in legal context and procedures through the SEAK organization, bolstering my technical capabilities.
